Sustaining the Sustainers Yoga Flow

Join Colleen Henegan for an hour-long, restorative yoga session to practice reshaping how eco-anxiety manifests in your body and mind.

Eco-anxiety, or a sense of distress that is tied to ecological and/or climatological crises, can often feel overwhelming. This is especially true for people working in environmental fields or for those who deeply care about environmental topics. Because many environmental issues, like the climate crisis, are complex and don’t have a clear, immediate solution, learning more about them can bring on intense and overwhelming feelings of despair, anger, fear, and frustration (Hickman et al., 2021).

Yoga can be a valuable practice to help manage eco-anxiety through breathwork (pranayama), physical postures (asana), and an “inward gaze” (prathyahara) to foster balance, strength, and flexibility in both the body and mind.

Wear comfortable cloths and bring a yoga mat. This will be a gentle practice, with some breath-to-movement sequences.
